Resumé
UX Designer targeting Principal-level design systems leadership. I'm a senior UI and UX / product design leader with 25+ years of design experience in B2B and B2C products, specializing in design systems and visual clarity at scale, and I'm an advocate for accessible design. I've worked in complex, regulated environments where design has to work, comply, and scale across teams.
What I'm known for:
Turning fragmented interfaces into adopted design systems teams actually use
Raising WCAG compliance without slowing delivery or watering down design
Reducing design-to-dev friction so products ship faster and break less
My core strengths:
Design systems (tokens, components, governance)
Low to high-fidelity UI & prototyping that accelerates development
Visual design that makes complex software feel obvious
Accessibility baked in, not thrown in at the last second
Stakeholder alignment across product, engineering, and leadership
Led the UI design strategy for DEX, GE Vernova's first accessibility-first, responsive design system, across a unified industrial product suite.
Designed AI-powered software used by mechanical engineers and analysts to reduce maintenance costs and prevent asset failure.
Supported customer retention by facilitating product and organization alignment through uniform visual design. Advocated for accessibility standards to better support users.
Invented the design-to-engineering handoff protocol used across a distributed team, and defined the token and component architecture governing the DEX suite.
Led UX design for APM's Analysis module for six-plus years – data visualizations, ad hoc analysis, templates, and SmartSignal forecasting charts – shipping sprint-level features including raw/interpolated data sorting, unit-of-measure switching, chart thresholds, and a side-by-side chart layout replacing the standard stacked view.
Improved UX efficiency by building a governed 600+ icon library, including 149 custom-designed icons; owned the contribution guidelines, production process, and enforcement standard.
Provided mentoring to junior designers.
Redesigned Geisinger Health System's patient portal and health insurance dashboard, translating complex EOB and benefits information into plain language. Helped the client win a project extension contract.
Aligned stakeholders to a shared product vision by co-facilitating stakeholder interviews with my client’s UX research specialist. Co-led design sprint workshops. Provided live sketch notes to workshop attendees.
Conserved engineering resources by establishing and documenting an iOS and Android icon system for Cisco, including a UI starter kit and control-by-control guidelines; the direct ancestor of the icon governance system I later built at GE Vernova.
Increased user productivity for NCARB's intern program by collaborating on a brand extension, responsive website, and time-tracking app.
Transformed Marriott's desktop-only reservation process into a responsive design system, on a booking path where a single day's 1% conversion loss was a real business risk. Facilitated a visual identity workshop with their product designers.
Drove adoption of a unified visual design language for Sonatype's security risk assessment product, partnering with stakeholders to translate technical alerts into calm, accessible UX.
Supported donor retention and brand recognition by extending the non-profit’s branding to their website. Partnered with graphic design department to drive a unified presence between digital and print assets. Led the “News and Views” blog redesign.
Collaborated with ThreeSpot, a Washington DC UX agency, on donation campaign concepts supporting women-led sustainable farming projects in Chiapas, Mexico and Rwanda, in partnership with Starbucks. Implemented modular components in SharePoint.
Built a scalable front-end video system for EFX Media capable of producing two videos per month per client organization.
Facilitated design and development for EFX Media's video streaming product, "Tactical TV," partnering with stakeholders from the U.S. Navy Memorial, Inova Health System, American Bar Association, and the Special Libraries Association.
Increased first-pass UX work request acceptance 5x (10% → 50%) by designing and building Anderson, an AI-driven intake coaching tool on Aha!'s Elle AI platform.
Architected GE Vernova's first WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility-first, responsive design system (DEX), including a 163-variable semantic color token architecture that cut UX design workload 50%.
Led design-to-engineering handoff for a 9-time-zone distributed team by inventing a formal specification protocol, now governing 44+ components.
Replaced fragmented legacy icon libraries with a governed 600+ icon system (149 custom-designed), the organization's first icon library with consistently adopted usage across product teams.
Contributed to Geisinger Health System, securing a project contract extension by redesigning patient EOB and benefits experiences for plain-language accessibility.
